Guilt Fueled Hobby Update
I have finally gotten some painting in this week. I haven’t had a chance to work on any hobby stuff since I made my post on cleaning Shapeways models.
The guilt finally got to me and so I sat down last night and got some work done, here are some progress shots:
And finally:
It’s pretty rough - I feel very out of practice - but it’s a start. I took a “Painting Black” class at GenCon this year and wanted to reinforce some of the lessons learned. I tried to make the different clothing materials stand out my making the leather more shiny. I think I could do a little better differentiating the shirt from the jacket, perhaps with a slight glaze of a warm color on the shirt. I’m pretty happy with the contrast of the boots and leggings.
Soon we will have metal prototypes of our first 2 factions which we will be painting meticulously for promotional photographs and our Kickstarter video. I will need to be on point for that!
A note on my wet palette
The Redgrass wet palette is amazing, by the way. I put out all the colors for the 4 models a month ago when I started base-coating, then I put the lid on and forgot all about it. Last night I opened it up and was able to use most of the paint just by mixing in little water. It is embarrassing to admit that I left things in that state but you deserve to know about this palette :)
What do you think of the paint job?
