Hair & Metal

No, not glam rock ;)

As I mentioned in my last post I am working on learning a few new techniques to produce some photogenic models. As I learn and practice I will be posting with progress shots and begging for advice on improving :)

Hair

One item on my list is improving hair highlights. I was pretty happy with hair on Lucky, but I struggled to reproduce the result on Pai, in spite of using the same exact colors and technique.

Non-Metallic Metal

The most exciting and challenging technique I’m intent on learning is non-metallic metal. I haven’t gotten too far yet but here’s my progress on Buck’s “shock gun”. I’m going for the dark steel look of the original art.

This is very much a work in progress, I have base coated (thanks for getting that started, Bernie!), done some layering on the shirt, and worked on the gun. I’m also using Vallejo dark Prussian blue to blackline the shirt and create very dark shadows on the underside. I would love some feedback on the gun and shirt so far, how do you think it’s looking?
